Hellensmusic is a music festival that takes place every Spring in and around Hellens Manor, Herefordshire. The event’s aims are threefold: to create opportunities for world-class musicians to collaborate outside the concert circuit and explore new ideas; to provide a platform for talented music students from all over the country to learn from leading experts; and to bring great music to this corner of England, inspiring local audiences, both children and adults, to a greater understanding and appreciation of all music.
Hellensmusic has a strong focus on music education and training for the young. The main concerts take place in the early evenings, and during the day the resident musicians deliver a series of masterclasses to talented students from the UK’s best music schools and colleges. During a week of intense musical work, students have the chance to learn from renowned professionals from some of the best orchestras and ensembles in the world, receiving fresh, candid advice at a crucial time in their development. The course culminates in two final concerts where they have the opportunity to show what they learned throughout the week and – for the first time in 2018 – to perform side by side with their tutors.
Hellensmusic also works closely with local primary and secondary schools throughout the year, offering children free additional opportunities to engage with music by way of fun, curriculum-complementing workshops organised in partnership with ABF Music. Don’t miss their showcases at Hellensmusic 2018’s two School Days – more details available soon!
