“Nothing was more delicious…” – The Times Review
Nominated as one of BBC Magazine’s “Rising Stars” of classical music for 2024, prize-winning pianist Xiaowen Shang released her debut album,Music of Silence, on Linn Records in April, as part of the Royal Academy of Music Bicentenary Scholar series. A busy recitalist, Xiaowen’s recent career highlights include her debut solo recital at Wigmore Hall, appearances on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, another Wigmore concert with Brett Dean, Lawrence Power, and the Nash Ensemble, and a duo performance with Steven Isserlis at Apsley House.
Her upcoming engagements feature appearances at Wigmore Hall with her trio, Temporal Harmonies Inc., a UK tour with YCAT Young Artist Charlotte Spruit in January 2025, and several concerto performances across the UK. Among her recent accolades are the Gold Medal from the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe and the Harriet Cohen Bach Prize from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Xiaowen is also a Young Artist with the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Having recently graduated with a master’s degree from the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance of Joanna MacGregor, Xiaowen is now continuing her studies as a PhD candidate at the Royal Academy of Music.
