Hellensmusic’s opening concert traces composers through their travels, imagined wanderings, and musical evocations of transportation, bringing together a rich array of works by a range of composers inspired by journeys in many forms. Among them, the programme moves from a virtual visit to Italy with the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, to the sounds of late nineteenth-century America as heard by the Czech Antonín Dvořák, from Heitor Villa-Lobos’s playful echo of a jet whistle, to a final ascent to heavenly heights in Ralph Vaughan Williams’s The Lark Ascending.

Works by A. Dvorak, W. A. Mozart, I. Stravinsky , V. Williams, J.S. Bach and more…

Maya Iwabuchi (violin), Charlotte Scott (violin), Adrien Boisseau (viola), Bruno Delepelaire (cello), Michael Cox (flute), Matthew Hunt (clarinet), Julien Quentin (piano) and Hellensmusic Masterclass Students.
